"Talking With John Wayne"

This week I performed an original performance piece with John Wayne. He's great, if you ever have the chance to work with him I really suggest you do so. We danced, laughed, and asked some burning questions. And, of course, he also helped me with my cheer routine.

KateDoug Custom Pet Pillows

I have recently been working with many people to create their perfect, custom, pet pillows. I wanted a place where I could show all of the items I have created - since Etsy only allows five pictures per piece.

Each pet has its own unique personality and I try to capture that in my work.

KateDoug - My New Etsy Shop

KateDoug - Custom Pet Pillows - Personalized Gifts

Custom, handmade pillow covers of your favorite fuzzy friends!

Every item is designed by me and created by hand.

I have been wanting to start an Etsy shop for a good amount of time - and have now officially opened KateDoug! My first
week has gone very well, I have received numerous orders for made to order items.

I specialize in custom made pillow covers, I can work with anyone to create an item they truly enjoy. For my custom pet pillows I take a picture of your pet and create a custom design based off their image.

Here are a few samples of my custom work:

DIY London Underground Art

DIY London Subway Art

Tube Art... Underground Art...

I made this for a friend to commemorate our semester abroad.

Make the wood base out of plywood and molding pieces. My piece is 1.5' x 4' with 2'' molding, held together with glue and nails.

Sand the entire piece and paint with primer. Allow to dry then spray paint one coat of white. Allow to dry and add another layer of white.

I then made a .doc that included all of the tube stops I wanted. I spaced out the words and found a font I felt matched the underground feel. This font is Alternate Gothic No.2.  I took it to an office store and made two copies to match the dimensions of my piece.

For one paper copy, cut out each letter to make a stencil. With the other paper copy, adhere it to contact paper with spray adhesive. Once dry, cut out each letter attached to the contact paper. You can then attach the letters one by one following your pencil outlines.

Your hands will be in pain... but that's ok!

Spray paint over the letters with black, and allow to dry overnight.

Now for the fun part!! Peel off each letter to reveal your masterpiece.

Attach hanging hooks and wire, pick a good spot to hang it and enjoy!
