Last summer I saw this post about creating paint chip art on Apartment Therapy. I loved his Marilyn, and decided to try to make my own.
I am all about free projects, and I was not afraid to go into countless ACE Hardwares across Florida.
I knew the focus had to be an iconic image that could be recognized in a pixelated form, so I went with
Andy Warhol's Turquoise Marilyn.
I just couldn't get Marilyn out of my head!
First I pixelated the image using a computer program.
Then I plotted out each square and found a matching paint sample.
Collecting the samples and matching the colors definitely took the most amount of time. After planning out each square I cut out each sample and laid them out for a preview.
Long story short....
Total paint Samples = 1,056!
Feel free to contact me if you would like me to make a piece for you!!
